Excalibur 98 Takes 2nd Place in October HockeyFest!

Congratulations to Team Excalibur 98 who battled their way to a second place finish in the October HockeyFest Tournament October 18th.  The entire team skated hard and showed tremendous heart the whole day.  After a round robin loss to Mission AZ Stars in Game 1, the kids came out pumped up for Game 2 against Casey's Crushers.  They played with a vengeance (recalling their 2007 State Championship loss perhaps?) and beat the talented Casey's team with a score of 6-4.  Excalibur wasn't satisfied with just one win though, and swiftly put away Rollerplex 8-0 in Game 3.  Goalie Wyatt Entzminger recorded the shutout.

At the end of round robin play, Excalibur 98 found themselves seeded in the Semifinal game against Casey's once again... who looked to avenge their loss in the day's earlier battle.  But it was Excalibur's day to shine, and the kids again squeezed out a win, finishing the game 4-2.  The stage was set in the Championship game with Excalbur 98 meeting the Mission AZ Stars for a re-match.  Though the kids jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead, fate wasn't on their side for this game.  Mission hung in to score 4 goals, the game-winner in the last 2 minutes, for the win.  Excalibur 98 takes home the second place medal in what hopefully proves to be a sign of great things to come this season.  Great work team!
